Fat burning recipe cookbook doesn’t help you lose weight.

So, have you seen this? Fat burning recipes to make everyday foods burn fat…

Are you kidding me???

This so called guru wants you to buy a cookbook which supposedly will show you how to burn fat by adding hot sauce, cinnamon …blah blah and blah.

Yes, there are certain foods like blueberries, green tea extract etc..that have fat burning qualities but honestly do you think by eating these so called ” fat burning foods” your going to just start shedding weight.  No way.  Again, it all comes down to calories.   Just make sure your calories are from all natural food sources .   Your body will look alot different if your eating a 200 calorie fast food burger vs a 200 calorie sushi dish.  Stick to eating lean and clean as much as possible.

Ladies do yourself a favor. Try to live by a wholefoods type of diet, keep your calories in check, sweat your ass off and cheat a little (just make sure your cheat foods are made naturally without any of the icky preservatives and fake sugars.) example: if you crave chocolate than eat a small piece and make sure its organic and 70% cacoa (paul newmans’ dark chocolate).

Healthy Flat Stomach Recipe: Moroccan Stew

Sweet potatoes and veggies make this dish antioxidant-rich and sweet tasting.   I like to make this dish, portion it to be frozen for a quick snack or lunch.  This is even great on top of salads to add variety.  As a main dish, serve this stew over a scoop of cooked quinoa or whole grain brown rice. Yield: 6 servings

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 1/2 cups plus 3 tablespoons water or organic vegetable stock, divided
  • 1 large size yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 large size red bell peppers, seeded and chopped (frozen organic is fast and cheaper)
  • 2 or 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar or pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon grated or minced fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon saffron
  • 2 medium size organic sweet potatoes or garnet or jewel yams, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 can (15oz) organic diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15oz) chickpeas drained and rinsed
  • Sea salt and pepper to taste
  1. Heat 3 tablespoons water in a soup pot over medium heat. Add onion, peppers and garlic, and cook for 5 minutes. If the water begins to evaporate, add a little more.
  2. Stir in the agave nectar, coriander, cinnamon, cumin, ginger and saffron and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add sweet potatoes, and stir to coat. Stir in tomatoes, remaining 1 1/2 cups water and chickpeas. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  3. Simmer until sweet potatoes are tender, about 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then serve over quinoa or brown rice.

Nutritional Analysis: One serving equals: 141 calories, 1g fat, 29g carbohydrate, 6g fiber, and 6g protein.

Need more flavor? Add a spicy dressing or some type of organic Low-Fat Ranch dressing.

Healthy Breakfast Ideas that are different.

Throughout the years, I have tried all different breakfast recipes that were different but tasted good. Currently, my breakfast usually consist of an egg and 4-5 egg white omelet topped with organic cheddar cheese and Trader Joes’ original salsa. Ya, I eat cheese and stay at 4-5 % body fat. No, I’m not a body builder or admire my self in the mirror at every ripple nor do I like that mentality. I just feel healthy and fast when I box, wrestle or workout.

So, one question I get all the time is suggestions on breakfast meals that are healthy but different. I’ll list a few that you may want to try below. Please comment on any breakfast ideas that are different that you may have to share.

Breakfast Idea 1:Sweet potatoes, bananas and cinnamon. Slice the sweet potatoes thin and saute them in coconut oil or olive oil. Mix with sliced banana and top with cinnamon. Place a scoop of Greek yogurt on top.

Breakfast Idea 2:Plain Greek yogurt, mixed with 1-2 tbsp of raw agave, 1/2 cup eziekiel cereal and chopped up raw almonds, dates and a scoop of green magma plus all natural vanilla whey protein.

Breakfast Idea 3:blended fruit with scoop of your favorite all natural protein, chia seeds and tsp of raw almond or sunflower butter. In blender..blend small banana, organic berries, strawberries and melon with water to consistency you like. You could even use coconut or almond milk instead of water. Blend in scoop of whey protein, tbsp of chia seeds, tbsp of raw almond butter and tbsp of agave or raw honey.

Breakfast Idea 4:egg whites mixed with low-fat cottage cheese and pineapple in its own juice. Slice eziekiel toast with earth balance butter or raw almond butter.

Breakfast Idea 5: Carrot juice blended with frozen organic strawberries, 2 scoops hemp or whey protein, 1 tbsp of raw almonds and 1/2 cup organic oats.

Breakfast Idea 6: egg white omelet with sauteed chicken slithers, Mexican cheese and hot sauce or even cocktail sauce. I actually love the spicy peanut vinaigrette from Trader Joes. I put it on everything!

So, there you go. Some different ideas from the usually yogurt with granola or the egg and turkey bacon sandwich.
Try them out. You may like them or you may say they su**. :)

The Organic Food Craze

organicI’ll never forget the “Fat Free Craze”.  Do you remember that?  What a joke.  You had every junk food junky running out and stuffing their face with fat free this and fat free that.  Oh it doesn’t matter they’d say, ” look fat free twinkies, how yummy!!!”

Ya, instead of getting healthier they were rollin down the street with cheeks like a blow fish and a jelly belly that slapped the ground everytime they tried to run off their last meal.

So, here we are with the “Organic Craze”.

Those who know me would say that I only eat clean, all natural foods and have since I’ve been about 12 years old.  No preservatives, no chemicals, nothing foreign just real ingredients.  Yet, does that mean just because the label says organic that gives me right to stuff my face and think I’d never put on weight.  Obviously not!!

Don’t get sucked up into the all natural, organic advertising bonanza.  If you’re trying to lose weight; watch your calories and work your ass off.  That’s how you’ll get in shape fast.  Not by sucking down acai juice, pills and cup cakes.

Do yourself a favor….skip the bull.  Go to basics: lean proteins, organic veggies, fruits and greens.  Sprinkle it with some complex carbs and SWEAT! Lift some weights and hit a punching bag.  Just move.

Summary: Go organic but don’t stuff your face.
