Toxic Kids..Healthy Parents. Do you help your kids stay fit?

Are you setting up your kids to an unhealthy lifestyle?  Do you eat all natural but feed your kids, dogs and anyone else anything and everything?

The first step I have clients do when their trying to lose weight, get healthy etc.. is to write down what they eat. From there I try to slowly take or add things from their diet so they can reach their goal. In the long run, I try to change their thought process so that they always eat a wholefoods type of diet.

Pizza, french fries etc…these all can be healthier and made from clean, unprocessed ingredients. Ya, not flat abs foods but if your trying to live a healthier life then you can definitely make any food healthier just by their ingredients and eliminating the unnecessary fats, salt, sugar, preservatives and chemicals.

One thing that drives me nuts is when after I train a client for a week I ask them , ” How did you eat yesterday?”. They’ll usually say great but I almost ate some of my kids mac n cheese. Then I’ll say, ” What brand do use for the kids.” Almost, 95% of the time they’ll tell me a brand that’s loaded with chemicals, artificial flavors, cheese substitutes…blah,blah..

So, your going to change your eating habits to get healthy but allow your kids to fill up on all the artificial crap that’s creating obesity at an alarming rate. Then parents will say, ” we grew up on this and we are ok?” Hmmm..last I checked again America has an obese issue. Hey, you might be genetically gifted like those who smoke a pack of cigarettes everyday but they live to 90 with black teeth. Yet, what if your kids aren’t genetically lucky and that one artificial color creates a cellular change over time? Then what?

If your going to change your eating habits, then change your families. If your going to have mac n cheese for the kids then try an all natural version or make your own. Grind up veggies and add them to turkey meatballs and even lean beef. Have your kids drink more water and less soda, juice and sports drinks. Instead of cereal for breakfast everyday…MAKE them have some protein (eggs, lowfat cottage cheese, greek yogurt, turkey bacon, protein smoothie made with organic frozen fruit and whey protein). Limit beef to 1-2 per week and try to introduce salads to each dinner. Try to give more soups which have lots of veggies and lean protein (non gmo soy, chicken etc..). If you don’t have time then there are lots of good soups that are all natural that your kids will enjoy.   As important, get them moving in any type of sport or activity that makes their heart go up and helps them burn off energy (calories).

Keep trying to help your kids get healthier. Experiment with lots of recipes and foods until you find the right mix. Just do them and you a favor. Stay away from the processed and artificial stuff.
