The Organic Food Craze

organicI’ll never forget the “Fat Free Craze”.  Do you remember that?  What a joke.  You had every junk food junky running out and stuffing their face with fat free this and fat free that.  Oh it doesn’t matter they’d say, ” look fat free twinkies, how yummy!!!”

Ya, instead of getting healthier they were rollin down the street with cheeks like a blow fish and a jelly belly that slapped the ground everytime they tried to run off their last meal.

So, here we are with the “Organic Craze”.

Those who know me would say that I only eat clean, all natural foods and have since I’ve been about 12 years old.  No preservatives, no chemicals, nothing foreign just real ingredients.  Yet, does that mean just because the label says organic that gives me right to stuff my face and think I’d never put on weight.  Obviously not!!

Don’t get sucked up into the all natural, organic advertising bonanza.  If you’re trying to lose weight; watch your calories and work your ass off.  That’s how you’ll get in shape fast.  Not by sucking down acai juice, pills and cup cakes.

Do yourself a favor….skip the bull.  Go to basics: lean proteins, organic veggies, fruits and greens.  Sprinkle it with some complex carbs and SWEAT! Lift some weights and hit a punching bag.  Just move.

Summary: Go organic but don’t stuff your face.

Partner Training for Abs.

Circuit 1 :  Partners will perform each exercise thoroughly and switch.  Repeat both exercises 1-3 x. Perform the entire circuit before going on to circuit 2.   NOTE: 3x = repeat both exercises 3 times.

Beginners 5-10 reps     Advanced 15-25 reps      Very Fit 25-50 rep

  1. Place a 55 cm ball under your knees so your feet drape over the ball and is 1-2 inches from your butt (very important because as  your performing the exercise you’ll have to adjust to same position due to the tendency to push back).  Pull your toes toward you.  This is best performed with the ball against a wall or your partners legs.  Your partner will hold your feet in position (toes flexed, pulled towards you).
  2. Make sure a mat or some type of padding is under your tailbone.  Next, place your fingers behind your ears on your head (fingers not locked behind your head).  Your elbows WIDE with slight angle.  Chin1-2 inches from your chest.
  3. Now, tighten your abs and perform a sit up until your chest touches your knees!  Pause 2 seconds and roll down slowly, using your abs to fight the downward motion of gravity.  IMPORTANT!!!: Land on your shoulder blades, with our chin 1-2 inches from  your chest.  Don’t Let your head fall back.  Make sure you land in a CRUNCH POSITION.  This way you protect your neck and even better you keep the tension on your abs throughout the exercise, YOUR ABS STAY ENGAGED!
  4. Beginners may have to pull themselves up by pulling from the back of the leg with their hands.  Still keep chin down.

Add: kickboxing, sprinting, jump roping, birpies, jumping squats, running in place……in between repeating circuit every time.  Also, you can add another ab exercise  click here

Debunking Trainers who say, "cardio doesn’t matter when losing weight!"

 girlssprinting

Some trainers are telling their clients ” skip cardio and get fit in 7,15 minutes”. To get shredded just pump these 5 lb weights and blah, blah, blah….

Hmmmm… well, how many of you eat 5 egg whites in the morning, boiled chicken with steamed broccoli and fish with salad for dinner????   Get ready to eat that way every day, 7 days a week and either lift heavy nonstop for 15 minutes or 30-45 minutes with light weight and many reps..  Don’t get me wrong, these are great ways to workout but honestly 99 percent of the population will never eat like that nor will they push themselves to muscle fatigue for growth.

Can you lose weight and never do cardio? Yes you can.  Yet, cardio has so many benefits.

weightloss

Wouldn’t you rather feel the energy  plus get the hormonal and internal benefits of cardiovascular activity.  As many of you know from my bio, I help train UFC prospects or fighters plus olympic freestyle wrestlers.  How ‘many fighters do you think don’t do cardio?  NONE because they wouldn’t last 1 minute…I love these meat heads who look at themselves nonstop in the mirror but can’t touch their toes or couldn’t punch their way out of a paper bag.   Give me a break…

Cardio Benefits other than calorie expenditure:

  1. Lowers blood pressure and resting heart rate
  2. Increases maximum oxygen consumption, lung diffusion capacity, capillary density and blood flow to active muscles.
  3. Improves Arterial Wall Elasticity

All of these equal an increase in muscular endurance.

Train like a fighter without being punched..Hit the road and increase the intensity of your cardio sessions by performing intervals  Example, ( sprint 30 seconds or 50 yards, jog for 2 minutes and repeat for 15 minutes….then hit 50 stairs for 15 minutes….then squat holding a 20 lbs dumbell for 50-100 reps…)

Take it from a true wrestler who would drop 22 lbs a season…I know how to drop weight and stay strong.  Cardio is key.

Do yourself a favor..DO CARDIO…IT DOES MATTER.

By the way for a side note: If you’re trying to gain weight….eat alot, lift heavy and sweat little, lol!
